SOC responsibilities and duties.
Answering the 21CF 911 telephone system: Employees of 21st Century Fox and all the companies that fall under its umbrella do not call 911 in the event of an emergency. They call the SOC. All telephones on Fox floors have stickers on their phones instructing them to do this. Once the SOC receives the call, very specific procedures are followed. Supervisors and SOC Operators must be CPR/AED certified as they often respond to emergencies along with Security Management and Clients prior to EMS arrival.
Two CCTV surveillance systems are used: Verint & Complete View Video Client. Between both, it amounts to over 500 cameras that need to be monitored. Verint is used to review video and conduct investigations as assigned by the clients. Video and photos are transferred to CD, DVD’s or flash drives as needed. Complete View Video Client is like Verint but belongs to the building security system instead of Fox. Daily outside news segments and Anchors must be closely monitored as well as frequent protestors, suspicious individuals and other media outlets. Notifications of these must be sent out.
Outlook: Used daily for all notifications relating to planned news segments, security coverage requests, last minute breaking news, expected guests for shows, parking permits, requests for parking spaces, outside security details, Secret Service and NYPD walkthroughs etc. Emails must be monitored, answered promptly and posted on the wall. Information must be passed on to the arriving shift. Excellent report writing skills are essential here, there is no room for error. A missed or mishandled email can negatively affect a show.
Excel: License plate database entries.
NC4: Risk Center: Real time global incident monitoring web portal. Keeps us alerted to worldwide incidents occurring near any of the Fox locations such as floods, fires, robberies, terror related etc.
D3: Incident management database where incidents are entered and reviewed as needed.
SMS Service Portal: Used to submit requests for service to issues with Cameras, access card readers, mag locks etc.
Building Engines: Access control and Visitors system for Fox and the building. Here we enter information for expected guests and must enter accurate information which generates alerts to prevent unauthorized access.
Symmetry access control system: Used to program cards, activate and deactivate them. Lock and release doors, run access reports, monitor alarms and employees throughout the two buildings.
Must be very comfortable with a window-based pc, Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat: These are used to create and distribute Do Not Admit (DNA) fliers:
Two Pelco keyboards with joysticks used to bring up cameras on numerous separate monitors.
18th floor credit union: Monitored from the SOC. When an alarm is received, Officers must follow specific procedures to resolve.
Master keys lock box: Master Keys and access cards for all the Fox floors are stored and logged in and out as needed.
Numerous panic alarms: Numerous alarms alert in the SOC from some of the most critical parts of the building and from the offices of several CEO’s. These must be acknowledged, and specific procedures followed.
Telephone calls: All calls on these phones are recorded and reviewed from time to time. Calls are from within the building as well as from viewers with comments, complaints. Threats are frequently received and must be accurately documented and passed on to NY-Finest.
Log books: All calls and radio transmissions must be logged in these.
Radio base: Acknowledge radio transmissions from both Fox and building security.
Lost and found: Items found in the building are turned into the SOC, logged and placed in the Security safe.
